Zeta Iota Chapter of NSPDK

The Zeta Iota Chapter of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Incorporated was chartered on May 21, 2022 in Hanover, Maryland. Creating a chapter of NSPDK in Prince George's County, Maryland was envisioned by NSPDK Member Gwendolyn B. Phillips and chartering group leader Stacy Alexander.

 

Under the leadership of the 25th Supreme Basileus Margarette Galloway, Eastern Regional Director Dr. Patsy O. Squire, Regional Member-At-Large Tiffany Ladson-Lang and Eastern Region Membership Chair Angela M. Ringgold, the 147th chartered chapter was established. Chosen to lead us on our journey to NSPDK,Inc. were sponsoring chapters Gamma (Basileus Sheila Evans) and Alpha Mu (Basileus Maria Allmond). The Dean of Pledges was Terry Blume (Alpha Mu Chapter) and Co-Dean Sheraie Darby (Gamma Chapter).

 

The Charter members of Zeta Iota are: Stacy Alexander, KierraAshlee Armstrong, Dr. LaTanya Catron-Simpson, Sandra Choute, Christienne Coleman-Warren, Richelle Coleman-Warren, Yolanda Cosby, Sharyn White Daniels, Dr. LaChonda Ellerby, Julia Goodman Gafney, Velma C. Gorham, Tiffawny Green, Rachel K. Jefferies, Dr. Dawn K. Lewis, Flecha Organ, Catherine C. Powell, Sandra Robinson, Keitha Shepherd Cook, Pearl E. Stewart and Kathy Waymmann.

 

Since its chartering, Zeta Iota has contributed to Prince George’s County through the following activities: Virtual Community Forum on Sickle Cell Disease held on September 29, 2022; Adopt-a-School Program with Apple Grove Elementary School in Fort Washington, MD to support the school library; Reading Across NSPDK on MLK Day on January 16, 2023. On December 15, 2022, the chapter established two scholarships, the Gwendolyn B. Phillips Collegiate Scholarship, and the Zeta Iota Scholarship for High School Students.
